'Other' Type of Time - Adding Activity Overhead Type/Code

The Activity Overhead Types and Activities are used for tracking time like meetings, shop labor, equipment repairs, and time off.

  1. Verify that the ‘Accounting Code’ for the other time that is about to be set up has been created.

  2. Add the 'Activity Overhead Type’ for the accounting code(s) that are being set up. (Multiple Accountings Codes can be linked to a single Type.)

    1. While in ‘Administration’ select the ‘Activity Overhead Type’ tab.

    2. Click ‘Add Activity Overhead Type’.

    3. Enter the Department, Display Order, Type Name, and select ‘Yes/No’ for the additional options.

      1. The ‘Type Name’ will be the name visible under the ‘Other - Type of Time' and then under the ‘Activity Overhead Type’ section on the timecard.

    4. Select ‘Add this Activity Overhead Type’ to save.

  3. Now any ‘Activity Overhead Codes’ that are relevant to this ‘Activity Overhead Type’ can be set up.

    1. While in ‘Administration’ select the ‘Activity Overhead Codes’ tab.

    2. Select ‘Add Activity Overhead Code’.

    3. Select the recently added ‘Activity Overhead Type’.

    4. Set a ‘Name’ for the Activity Overhead Code.

    5. Select the ‘Accounting Code'.

    6. Optional: Set the ‘Labor Code’.

    7. Optional: Set the Higher Labor Class Rules, note that setting this will override the setting under ‘Hours Types’.

    8. Select any ‘Employees’ or ‘Group/Teams’ that this 'Activity Overhead Code' is for

    9. Click ‘Add this Activity Overhead Code’ to save.

    10. Repeat if additional Activity Overhead Codes are needed.

Optional setting for WI - WI customers may also have a setting enabled that allows you to link a project number to the Activity Overhead Code. Contact support for more information.
